Descent To Tyranny

“The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands… is the definition of tyranny”
– James Madison.

This article describes the steps that occur as a country descends into authoritarian tyranny. Authoritarians typically close their countries to the outside world. This lets them avoid responsibility for their actions and maximize control of their citizens. Political ideology is irrelevant to this process. It can occur with all authoritarian ideologies. Usually tyrants use a trigger event to close the country and start its descent into tyranny.

Canada’s trigger event was a peaceful mass protest featuring truckers from across the country. Justin Trudeau used the protest as the excuse to carry out a brutal authoritarian crackdown on a formerly democratic country. In the process he stripped every Canadian of their human rights. This essentially struck down the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

1 Invoke a terrifying internal and external enemy

Creating a terrifying threat – hydra-like, secretive, evil – is an old trick that manipulators employ. The threat can be based on actual events or on propaganda. Feeling threatened makes us more willing to accept limits on our freedoms. First, covid was the threat, now the truckers are. Trudeau’s first response to the trucker convoy was to demonize and defame them by calling them vile names like “racist” and “misogynist”. He then went on to suggest that the truckers were associated with Nazis, and that they were criminals funded by shady foreign entities. His state propaganda outlet CBC even tried to claim that the trucker convoy was a product of Russian influence.

2 Create a gulag

A gulag is a prison system outside the rule of law where torture takes place and the regime holds prisoners indefinitely without trial. One example is Guantanamo Bay. Trudeau already has a network of unused gulag hotels ready. He previously used them to illegally incarcerate (“quarantine”, in Trudeauspeak) travelers returning from foreign countries. There’s a good chance he has camp style gulags ready as well.

At first, the public views gulag inmates as outsiders: troublemakers, spies, “enemies of the people” or “criminals”. Initially, citizens tend to support the secret prison system; it makes them feel safer and they do not identify with the prisoners. They don’t realize that they could easily be the next ones to end up in a gulag. But soon enough, civil society leaders – opposition members, protestors, activists, clergy and journalists – are arrested and sent there as well.

3 Develop a thug caste

When aspiring dictators want to close down an open society, they send paramilitary groups of scary young men out to terrorize citizens. In Trudeau’s case, those groups are Antifa and the police. This paramilitary force is especially important when a despot is about to dismantle a democracy. You need citizens to fear thug violence, and so you need thugs who are free from prosecution to instill fear. The Trudeau regime used “thug violence” to hack and then doxx a list of people who donated to the truckers. This regime is now using the list as a government hate list of enemies of the state. An Antifa thug ran four protesters down with an SUV. He was not held accountable for his crime. Antifa operatives made other failed attempts to disrupt the protest by waving racist flags among the crowds as well as trying to verbally incite the crowd to violence.

Now police are using thuggish tactics to punish demonstrators and independent journalists. For example, they have been forcibly removing the protesters’ pets and children. To cover up their brutality they lie to the press and on social media, despite ample video evidence to the contrary. Some lies include accusing truckers of using their own children as human shields, trampling a crowd with horses and then claiming that the crowd tried to hurt the horses with a non existent bicycle, and deploying tear gas against peaceful protesters and then claiming that the protesters used the gas on them first. Now, where can private citizens purchase tear gas – Walmart?

In Ottawa, citizens who witnessed the thuggish violence against the demonstrators were so horrified that they called police to complain. The thugs responded by ordering citizens to stop calling them and threatening to arrest anyone who did.

Another way thuggish police hide their crimes is by prohibiting journalists from being present when they oppress citizens. Police assault and arrest any journalist who defies them. Legitimate police uphold the law and protect citizens. State sanctioned thugs and criminals in totalitarian regimes flout the law, brutalize citizens and then lie to avoid responsibility for their crimes.

4 Set up an internal surveillance system

In every closed society, secret police spy on ordinary people and encourage neighbours to spy on neighbours. The regime brainwashes the public to believe that this spying is about “national security”. Propaganda has already groomed the public to spy on each other during the covid pandemic. Fearful people often reported their neighbours for violating covid diktats. The Canadian government has already been caught spying on the phones of millions of Canadians using its covid contract tracing app. The regime uses vaccine passports, along with the cell phones that carry them, to monitor people’s movements and complicity with covid diktats. Now the regime has enlisted the banks and finance companies to spy on their customers’ transactions. If the banks find any evidence that the customer is providing financial assistance to dissidents, they will freeze that customer’s assets and close their accounts, leaving the customer destitute. Now Trudeau can financially ruin any Canadian who is deemed an enemy of the state. It’s a safe bet that government operatives were spying on the trucker convoy protesters. It’s also a safe bet that Justin Trudeau paid the hackers who stole the list of trucker convoy donors.

5 Harass citizens’ groups

Clearly the trucker convoy group and their supporters are suffering persecution and harassment, along with anyone found to be on the government’s hate list (see #3). The regime is retroactively punishing donors to the trucker convoy. Government operatives infiltrate protest groups. Tyrants pass laws like the Emergency Act to nullify rights and to redefine peaceful activism as terrorism. The definition slowly expands to include anyone who opposes or questions government actions in any way. Trudeau is about to pass harsh internet censorship legislation which will further criminalize any dissent. This is how a tyrant like Justin Trudeau gives himself permission to crush his opponents.

6 Engage in arbitrary detention and release

This is happening to the truckers right now. Police thugs are charging them with petty crimes like “mischief” or even “counselling to mischief” and then releasing them. The vast majority of arrests which took place during the crackdown on the peaceful truckers were arbitrary and based on petty and vexatious charges like “mischief”. Police thugs commonly reach into crowds and grab random individuals to beat and arrest. Reports from Ottawa suggest that police are abusing protesters, arresting them, and then dumping them outside of the city.

Police thugs grab a protester at random

A good example of arbitrary repeat arrests is the story of Pastor Artur Pawlowski, who has been arrested numerous times throughout the covid pandemic for the “crime” of conducting Christian church services, and he was recently arrested again at his home without charge or bail. He sits in jail right now.

These arrests are made to frighten people. It is a kind of cat-and-mouse game. Police often arrest and release dissidents many times, this practice is common in China. Once a dissident is on a government hate list, they will be repeatedly threatened, spied on and harassed with enforcement actions. It is a standard practice of authoritarian societies that once you are on the government’s enemies list, you can’t get off. Donors to the trucker convoy will suffer that fate.

7 Target key individuals

Authoritarian regimes view academics, religious and civic leaders and civil servants as a source of activism and potential rebellion. So, regimes threaten them with loss of freedom, job loss or “cancellation” if they don’t share the regime’s ideology. For years, educational institutions have been subverted by cultural marxist and anti White views, and anyone who disagrees is purged. Recently an Ontario civil servant lost her job for donating $100 to the trucker convoy. Attorneys, judges and other officers of the court also lose their jobs or suffer the state’s retribution if they don’t support the state’s views. This makes it very hard to get a fair judgement in court if anyone tries to sue the regime to get their rights back. (See #10 below)

8 Control the press

All dictatorships and would-be dictators target newspapers and journalists. They threaten and harass them in societies that they are seeking to close, and they arrest them and worse in societies that have been closed already. Trudeau doesn’t need to threaten the mainstream Canadian media. Since he came into power Trudeau has been paying generous “bailouts” to all of the major news media outlets in Canada. As a result, they’ve all been acting as his paid mouthpiece for years. Over time in authoritarian societies, real news is supplanted by fake state run news and false documents.

Trudeau’s paid shill lies about police brutality

Alternative Canadian media do not receive Trudeau’s protection, so they are often denied access to report on government activities or attend press conferences. As described earlier, this means that police thugs can get away with abusing non mainstream journalists to prevent them from reporting on government abuses. In Ottawa police assaulted independent journalists while reporters from CBC, Trudeau’s richly funded state mouthpiece, enjoyed an RCMP escort.

As a result, what we already have is the Trudeau regime directing a stream of false information that is so relentless that it is increasingly hard to sort out truth from untruth. In a totalitarian system, it’s not the lies that count but the muddying of facts. When citizens can’t tell real news from fake, they give up their demands for accountability bit by bit.

9 Dissent equals treason

In Stalin’s Soviet Union, dissidents were “enemies of the people”. Repressive regimes characterize dissent as “treason” and criticism as “insurrection’. Trudeau has given himself the right to characterize innocent donors to a cause he doesn’t like “terrorists” to justify plundering their bank accounts without a court order and doxxing them. In fact, he has redefined all crowdfunding, irrespective of cause, as “domestic terrorism”. Even if citizens turn out to be completely innocent of what Trudeau has accused us of doing, he has the power to ruin us financially, have us taken away with a knock on the door; ship us to a secret location; and keep us in isolation, possibly for months, while awaiting trial.

We have absolutely moved over into a preventive detention model, another mark of an oppressive regime – “if you look like you could do something bad, you might do something bad, so we’re going to hold you.” Police in Ottawa have been stopping vehicles from entering the downtown area if they “look like” they could be supporting the trucker convoy, including having a Canadian flag or the word “freedom” in or on the vehicle.

10 Suspend the rule of law

The Emergencies Act which Trudeau has invoked explicitly suspends the rule of law in Canada. He is freezing people’s bank accounts without a warrant. He is violating Charter protected rights. Trudeau’s government and his paid media are broadcasting citizens’ private information obtained by crime. The regime is using the police as a paramilitary force to crack down on dissent instead of enforcing the law. While the Act must ostensibly be ratified in Parliament, until it is, Trudeau wields almost unlimited power. He has already been delaying the Parliamentary vote. If MP’s refuse to ratify the Emergencies Act, it is likely that he will cancel the vote altogether in order to retain his hold on power indefinitely.

History shows that any leader, of any party, will maintain emergency powers after the crisis has passed. This is why the truckers organized their protest in the first place. Canadian politicians were refusing to revoke “emergency” covid mandates and human rights violations a year after the so-called “emergency” was over. Trudeau invoked the Emergencies Act when there was no emergency in force. He is retroactively prosecuting people for doing something which was perfectly legal when they did it. There is evidence that the Canadian government has already been compromised by Klaus Schwab and the WEF. Schwab brags about it on video. As mentioned earlier, it’s likely that judges and other officers of the courts have also been compromised.

With the gutting of traditional checks and balances, from now on Trudeau will enforce his will through edict rather than the arduous, uncertain process of democratic negotiation and compromise. He has already made it clear by his refusal to negotiate with the truckers that he has no intention of compromising with anyone.

11 Next Steps – from “emergency” to the New Normal

Now that Justin Trudeau has grabbed total power, he needs to solidify his grip. To do this, he must continue performing the steps listed above. He will eventually drop the “emergency” fiction while keeping the oppressive measures in place forever. The real reason Trudeau refuses to lift oppressive covid mandates is that he wants disgruntled citizens to continue trying to stop the mandates by protesting. This manufactured dissent provides the regime with a perpetual “terrifying internal and external enemy”, an excuse to tighten censorship and surveillance, and the excuse to maintain a brutally oppressive, never ending police state.

Gulags need a steady stream of prisoners to punish, and an army of thuggish police and Antifa terrorists needs a steady supply of victims to brutalize, otherwise they may turn on their own bosses. Tight control over the press must continue, to keep citizens brainwashed and compliant with pro regime propaganda. The regime will stamp out alternative news media and dissenting opinions using new draconian censorship laws.

The reality is that despite his rhetoric, Trudeau benefitted from the trucker convoy protest. He viewed the protest as a means by which to seize total control. That is why, even though thousands of truckers have moved from Ottawa to Quebec, Alberta and BC, the regime has taken no action against these protesters – yet.

Other countries whose governments have been compromised by the WEF will soon follow Canada’s lead. Even now, a number of countries are on the verge of declaring war with Russia (the next “enemy”) and in the US, another “enemy” Trucker Convoy is forming.
